Morgan Erickson
It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as a judge for the High Bridge Paint Out. As a resident of the community, I recognize the profound cultural and educational value that events like this bring to our town. They not only celebrate artistic talent but also foster a sense of connection and shared appreciation for the visual arts.
My passion for the arts is deeply rooted in my upbringing. Having grown up in Pennsylvania, I was continually inspired by the natural beauty that surrounded me. This early exposure to nature sparked a lifelong interest in artistic expression, particularly in the realms of creation and design.
Professionally, I began my teaching career in Photography at Hanover Park High School. For the past twelve years, I have been a proud member of the New Providence School District, where I have taught a wide array of visual arts courses, including 2D Design and Advanced Placement Studio Art. Presently, my instructional focus is on sculpture, where I teach students across all levels at the high school.
Throughout my career, I have remained committed to cultivating creativity, critical thinking, and artistic excellence in my students. It is a pleasure to support and celebrate the work of fellow artists through this event.
Elie Porter Trubert
Elie Porter Trubert is a New Jersey artist who works across a variety of media including sculpture, installation, audio, photography, and creative nonfiction. She is driven by a deep connection to nature and interest in non-traditional art spaces, and has developed an ongoing contemplative walking practice that involves the creation of ephemeral, site specific sculptural works assembled from gathered natural materials. These pieces allude to impermanence, interconnectedness, and attunement.
Elie creates “circle meditations” during her walks and leaves them for human and more-than-human others to find, fostering a relationship that is mutually healing, consensual, and reciprocal. Her most recent work, "Walking Within," retraced her own life path based on decades of journals that were transformed using wild clay, audio, and written elements into a multisensory archive.
A long-time nonprofit arts leader, Elie left her position as Executive Director of The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster, New Jersey to deepen her practice and recently completed an MFA through the University of New Mexico.
